Surveillance video of Vidor bank robber

VIDOR - by ASHLEY GASTON - Vidor police are investigating the first bank robbery in the city since 2007.

Six news anchor Ashley Gaston is investigating. She joins us in the studio with details. Ashley.

Vidor police Chief David Shows described the robber who struck the bank at about 4:30 pm, Monday afternoon as very calm as if he'd robbed
a bank in the past.

Police believe the man checked out two other banks before walking into
Mid South bank in the 1300 hundred block of North Main in Vidor.

This is surveillance video of the robbery.

Detectives believe the man picked Mid South bank because there were not any customers at the time.

Chief shows said the man walked toward the teller with a handwritten note.

The note indicated the teller should put a specific amount of money in the bag and not try to alert anyone or fight back.

The man grabbed the money and ran out of the bank.

Investigators say they don't know what type of vehicle he drove.

Chief Shows says bank robberies are rare in Vidor.

Vidor Police describe the man as tall and thin.

They believe he's in his late 20's to early 30's.

The man was wearing a dark blue jacket with a white liner and blue jeans.

And he had on a Texas Tech ball cap.

The Vidor Police Department needs your help in finding the robber.
