Rains unlikely to produce mosquito invasion

SOUTHEAST TEXAS - Often in Southeast Texas, when heavy rains end, a mosquito invasion follows.

The mosquito control directors in Jefferson and Orange County wants to ease your anxiety about the recent rains across the area.

You can find a lot of standing water in region, in places like Wuthering Heights Park in Beaumont.

Kevin Sexton, the head of Mosquito Control in Jefferson County, and Patrick Beebe, the director of Mosquito Control in Orange County, told KFDM News that heat triggers development of mosquitoes. The cooler temperatures we're expecting this weekend will help limit the problem.

They remind you to get rid of standing water as a precaution.

Both offices have planes and ground crews ready to spray if it becomes necessary, even during the winter.
