Fire leaves Newton family homeless

NEWTON - by STEVE STEWART - Fire, smoke, and water left heavy damage to a Newton home late Wednesday evening According to Newton Fire Department


Captain Melanie Smith, firefighters responded to the blaze at the Tony Trevino residence, in the 700 block of Burnaman Street, and arrived to find one room of the house completely engulfed.


Smith said the flames were quickly brought under control, but the Trevino family has been left displaced and currently living with other family members.


There's no word on the cause of the fire, and the incident remains under investigation.


Donations are currently being accepted for the family, and an account has been setup at Community Bank.


The couple has four children; three girls, ages 10, 11, and 12, and a boy, age 5.
