Dozens donate toys and clothes to Goodwill

BEAUMONT - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News

Dozens of people dropped off items for donation at Goodwill on the last day to claim a deduction for taxes.

Employees ripped receipts and handed them to people making donations.

“We have whole stacks of receipts ready to go,” said Jim Dreiling, Goodwill Industries of Southeast Texas President/CEO.

Dreiling also said donations can be made year-round and help to provide jobs for his employers.

“We try to keep in a good steady supply of donated goods ‘cause that puts our people to work,” he said.

Angela Harvey is one of the people benefitting from a job at Goodwill.

A 1997 car wreck killed her 4-year-old daughter and left her disabled.

“Every day is a blessing. Me to get up, walk to my car, put the seat belt on. .. People just don’t realize the importance of how great that is, because I could be underground,” Harvey said.

She works behind-the-scenes preparing clothes to be sold.

“I manage to still do what everybody else in the world is able to do and I can do it too,” she said. “Even though you been disabled doesn’t mean you’re forever without hope, because I have a lot of hope.Dozens donate toys and clothes to Goodwill
