PAISD Superintendent back at work; complaint investigation now closed

Port Arthur - By Megan Dillard - The Port Arthur School superintendent is back at work tonight.
Dr. Johnny Brown had been away from work for nearly two months. KFDM has covered this story since Dr. Brown first stepped out at the end of October.
The school district explained a complaint was made against Dr. Brown. No one would publically comment on the nature of that complaint, though the district's attorney told KFDM it was a personnel issue.

Tonight, Dr. Brown was back in his regular seat.
He led the meeting and addressed normal business that takes place during these meetings.
The board then stepped into closed session to discuss a complaint against Dr. Brown as stated on the meeting's agenda.
The board and superintendent then returned for open session.

Port Arthur school district's attorney Melody Chappell did not take questions but offered this statement on behalf of the school board and superintendent.
"The matter regarding the complaint against the superintendent of schools for Port Arthur ISD has been resolved. A thorough investigation was conducted and a review was done by the school board, and has been completed. This is a personnel issue and the board members are precluded by law from discussing this matter in the public. The superintendent has returned to work and no further comment will be forthcoming regarding this matter."

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Mark Porterie filled in for Dr. Brown while he was out.
Again, Dr. Brown is back at work, and the school board has completed its investigation.
