PAISD superintendent Dr. Johnny Brown appears in court

BEAUMONT - By Megan Dillard - Dr. Johnny Brown was at the Jefferson County Courthouse Wednesday.
He testified in a case against the Port Arthur School District.
A former PAISD employee alleges the district retaliated against him after he was fired from his role in the technology department.
Dr. Brown took the witness stand this afternoon in Judge Gary Sanderson's court.
The attorney for the former employee explained his client was asked to install school district equipment at Dr. Brown's home.
The case will continue Monday.
KFDM wanted to speak to Dr. Brown regarding his recent absence from his position as superintendant.
This was his response.
After offering no comment and exchanging looks with Port Arthur school district attorney Melody Chappell, KFDM was unable to get any information from Dr. Brown or the district about his leave of absence.
Brown hasn't been at work since October 25.
Neither he nor others associated with the district will comment publicly on the nature of his absence.
The Port Arthur ISD Board of Trustees have met several times with an attorney hired by the district to discuss a complaint filed against Dr. Brown, as well as to deliberate his performance and evaluate his job duties.
Stay with KFDM. We will continue to follow up on this issue.
