Beaumont gas station sells more than $3,000 in Powerball tickets

The jackpot that began at 450 million dollars this morning has now risen by 100 million.


It would be the second largest payout in U.S. history.


The owner of a gas station, Dos Amigas on Avenue C in Beaumont that has already sold 2 multi-million dollar lottery tickets in recent years.


At about 6 Wednesday night the store had sold over $3,000 in Powerball tickets.


"People come from Louisiana, Port Arthur and Port Neches. All of them come here because they heard about my store because the winning ticket sold in here so they come here," Mumtazm Ali says.


 Ali says so many people have walked through her door, she would guess nearly 1,000.


The odds in buying the jackpot are one in 175 million, you're most likely to get struck by lightening in one year.


People are still cashing in on the prize despite the odds. "It's worth a try, I mean, you wast $2 every day," Frances Graham said.


Glenda Segura and Kathy Wingate are friends who are more than confident they'll win.


"No one else needs to purchase a ticket, we have it." they both said.


Taking chances on the lottery to fulfill their dreams. "I'm going to pay off some bills, build me a house. That's the dream, the American Dream." Roylene Buckley said.
