Christmas in the park in Jasper

JASPER/KJAS Radio - Final plans and preparations are being made for the 2nd Annual Christmas in the Park Celebration, scheduled to take place on Saturday, here in Jasper.

For the past month or more, crews from the City of Jasper’s electrical department and others have been busy, not only preparing the park for the event, but also making sure the Christmas spirit can be seen all over town by hanging decorations on utility poles.

The full day of activities will begin at 10:00 a.m. with live entertainment from community singers and carolers. In addition, there will also be train rides for children and other amusements such as a moonwalk, a Santa’s hut, various food vendors and refreshments.

What is said to possibly be the largest firework show ever in Jasper will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by entertainment from the group “Professor Pork Chop and the Dirty Dishes” of Shreveport.

Due to the limited amount of parking in and around Sandy Creek Park, the organizers of the event are advising everyone to consider parking near City Hall on South Main Street and walking through the park to the event.

In addition a shuttle will be picking up people on around the courthouse square in downtown Jasper and transporting them to the park.

Following the Annual Christmas in the Park Celebration and lighting of the lights, the decorations along with Christmas music will remain on in the park through New Years Eve, allowing local residents and visitors to Jasper to have a chance to take their families on a tour of the park and its many new decorations.
