Vidor High School student struck by car

VIDOR - A 16-year-old Vidor High School student who was struck by a car Friday is being treated at a hospital in Galveston.


Authorities are not yet releasing the student's name.


Police say the student had gotten out of school at noon because of the upcoming holiday and ran out of a parking lot near the old Woods Supermarket.


A driver struck him as he ran across the 100 block of North Main.


A medical helicopter flew the student to UTMB in Galveston.


We're checking on his condition.


Police believe the driver was unable to avoid the accident.
